Do we want to force trailing path separators off?

If not, how can we make sure that all functions make sense (e.g. basename or maybe something like takeFileName)?

Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
